Not as many going to Heaven today.

I was looking at the obituaries in our local paper. Saddened to see that while 6 people "passed away" and seven simply "died", only two "went to be with our lord" or anything to that effect. I didn’m not counting the one young lady that "Went to live with Jesus" as I am not convinced by the writing there that she didn’t simply run off with a Mexican guy*. Nor am I counting another guy whose obit covered a most interesting live of more than 80 years but did not indicate that he had left this earthly realm. He seemed to be a tough guy, we should not count him out just yet.

My obit won’t be near as interesting, but can I help it if I didn’t grow up in a hardscrabble logging camp?

* Not that there’s anything wrong with that! sheesh!

Walmart really grinds my gears

Teresa just did her weekly Walmart trip, I know that it's the holidays, there is a ham there that was pushing $30. And Tide detergent, everything else was just low key expensive. I get it, tarrifs, rising cost of labor, insurance, yada yada yada. The total was about $225 - I have bought cars for less than than! Not very good cars, I'm just saying. What really grinds my gears though was the blatant lie at the very bottom of the reciept; Low prices You Can Trust. Every Day. A better tagline might be We know, everything is expensive, it's not just us. Maybe put the oreos back? To which I might reply: I got your creme filling right here, Buddy.

Feng Shui my foot, I tripped over the potted plant...

We have been weeding out our books, I've got this little book that advises how to improve the "Feng Shui" around here. Some of it is pretty far out. It says to put a compost pile in the West part of the garden, but goes on to say. it's a good area for "Sunbathing, convalescing, and entertaining" Am I missing a page? I'm Giving my copy away at bookmooch.
