My wife is a GODSEND

I am so glad that Teresa accompanies me on at least some of my daily walks, And I got needlessly offended by something a guy on the next block said in passing. But she straightened me out; "NO JOHN, he said 'Typically Nasty Weather', not 'Tickle my ass with a feather' * " ( * Jerry Seinfeld adds, "Not that there's anything wrong with that!")

So that is how it is

SERENITY NOW!!!

Sweet!

FROM the "Stake Your Day" newsletter; A new study published in Cell Metabolism found even sitting by the window for a few hours a day can be a good way to regulate blood sugar levels, enhance metabolism function and circadian rhythm response, and generally manage Type 2 diabetes. Previous research has found sunlight is good for health, both mental and physical, which doesn’t necessarily bode well for the average North American, who spends 80% to 90% of their time indoors. However, being indoors doesn’t mean you can’t be exposed to sunlight, and the study’s authors wanted to test the effects of absorbing it just by sitting near a window for several hours a day. They recruited 13 volunteers to spend two separate 4.5-day periods in the same room, with one group exposed to sunlight through big windows, and the other sitting with the windows blocked and only exposed to artificial light. Both groups ate the same food and were monitored for the same amount of time. They both r...

Walmart really grinds my gears

Teresa just did her weekly Walmart trip, I know that it's the holidays, there is a ham there that was pushing $30. And Tide detergent, everything else was just low key expensive. I get it, tarrifs, rising cost of labor, insurance, yada yada yada. The total was about $225 - I have bought cars for less than than! Not very good cars, I'm just saying. What really grinds my gears though was the blatant lie at the very bottom of the reciept; Low prices You Can Trust. Every Day. A better tagline might be We know, everything is expensive, it's not just us. Maybe put the oreos back? To which I might reply: I got your creme filling right here, Buddy.

I'm sure there is an appropriate meme website for cat's Christmas shenanigans.

Feng Shui my foot, I tripped over the potted plant...

We have been weeding out our books, I've got this little book that advises how to improve the "Feng Shui" around here. Some of it is pretty far out. It says to put a compost pile in the West part of the garden, but goes on to say. it's a good area for "Sunbathing, convalescing, and entertaining" Am I missing a page? I'm Giving my copy away at bookmooch.

Ronco's Pocket Fisherman endures...

I was amazed, they still sell these! When I was a kid in the 70's and 80's my friend Mario always had one one of these, in his backpack or the trunk of his car. He caught many fish... Personally I didn't have a taste for them because he mostly fished from urban waterways. But if you know a good fishing hole, it's a handy thing to have around.

Solve the oil problem and save our children; ELECT ME

One of our suppliers for ThatRestlessMouse.com has been telling us to get on the stick and order up some of these "Silly Bandz" because they are all the rage among the grade-school big spenders. Naturally I was skeptical, our kids are grown and while my wife tells me I am childish, they don't do a thing for me. I would prefer a sturdy slingshot, ala Bart Simpson or Dennis the Mildly Menacing. Now I read that school principals are banning them from the classroom. That's a sure sign of a runaway hit. But I see the bandwagon has picked up speed and it's too late to jump on; demand would vanish, and we would be stuck with a half a case of weird looking, impractical rubber bands. HEY I JUST THOUGHT OF SOMETHING! We could stuff that oil pipe with these goofy things, save enough to fill their other problematic spewing hole (The CEO's mouth), and save the kids from (this particular) distraction. Yay me!

They were out of goats

Last October was "Do Something Juvenile Month" and so we bought a bunch of these humorous Inflatable Sheep Sold lots of them over Christmas. Our price is cheap esp. relative to that store at the mall. Just put it in someone's office or tuck it into someone's bed while he's sleeping, and post a video of him waking up on YouTube. The possibilities are endless! Get several for a "running gag". Less than five bucks each when you buy two or more!

Vacation from Real Job

I've had several days off from my Real Job™ - have to go back tomorrow evening. I hate the part where the vacation winds down and it's time to return to the salt mines. No doubt someone will have screwed things up while I was gone, probably big mounds of pepper to clean up or something.

We will google it on your behalf

I have an idea on how we could use this "let me google that for you" tool for a search utility... Let's say you wanted to look at our fart-based products: Let me google the fart search for you...

Weird things for sale- Check!

Image
I was just trying to cull some old blog posts here, I discovered that we are honored to have been featured on the obscure "Weird Things for Sale on the Internet" webpage, since at least 1993! Where does the time go? ” You may scoff, but I think these little hobby pages, tucked away in subdirectories of their ISP, little known, are the oregano in the great spaghetti that is the Internet. It just wouldn't be the same without it, but no would be able to put their finger on exactly why.

No after-sale offers... Consumer Alert!

Watch out for this when shopping online! Sen. Rockefeller's committee has been looking into the practices of post-transaction marketers for months. The practice Rockefeller is going after involves the pop-up windows that appear on some e-commerce sites after a customer has completed a transaction. The pop-ups offer a coupon or some other incentive, but once a user clicks through, he can be automatically enrolled in a club that automatically bills his credit card for a monthly membership fee. We don't have after-sale offers, when you finish buying what you have in your cart, we are done. Also applies to mail and phone orders. Personally I hope they throw the book at these crooks, besides it's bad for business when other online sellers are ripping people off. P.S. They improved the shipping...

Image
I like what our store contractor, Zoovy, did about the shipping method selections… You still select a method early in the process, but now there is a display of all of the available shipping methods and prices for your specific weight and destination, on the screen after you put in your address. Laid out in front of you, instead of a drop-down box. See green arrow below.

Shipping can be cheaper!

Tired of overcharges on shipping? It’s hard to set up a perfect shipping algorithm, sometimes our cart “charges too much”. So here’s an idea: Put the phrase “Refund Excess Shipping” in the comments part of your order, and any shipping charge that exceeds actual postage, will be refunded. Suppose I should put some “fine print” to that; #1 Not valid on prior orders #2 Offer may be withdrawn at any time. (I’ll come back and make a note here if we do) #3 Offer void where prohibited. I always see that in newspaper contests and whatnot, where is this place that prohibits offers? Sounds like a drag.

All shot up... A bullethole gag

Image
Our Bullet through the window gag works even better in bunches, because really, who only fires one bullet? Now 88 cents when you get two or more.

Heartless Mr. Cunningham

I just caught a snippet of an old "Happy Days" episode... Mr. C is being cross-examined by Richie (All of a sudden he's a lawyer?) - at some community hearing about putting an offramp in and destroying "Inspiration point". Richie asks, "Do you have a family, Mr. Cunningham?" He responds, "I have a wonderful wife, a lovely daughter, and a smart-Alec son". So why wouldn't he mention Richie's older brother, Chuck, only seem in the early episodes? I had assumed that he was away at college, or in the Army? In either case, one would think Mr. C would mention him. That's why I think Chuckie died, or was disowned for some reason. Maybe he went to work for Ace Hardware, or some other big chain store. That would just about kill Howard.
