Optimism is a bad thing

I got the new 2009 version of Quicken, I don't know where I got the idea that they would have made it more svelte, and it wouldn't have that annoying habit of reserving a big rectangle for the quicken logo in the middle of the screen, preventing me from doing other computer stuff while waiting (and waiting) for it to load. I mean, they could have made it a thing on the side instead, at the very least.

Tried to sell the wife on a poor man's multi-monitor setup, which involves getting an old laptop do do the easy stuff on the same desk, but unfortunately she thought of an even cheaper version of that idea, which involves playing solitaire on the computer desk with a real deck of cards.

Oh well, at least I get to cheat that way.

Walmart really grinds my gears

Teresa just did her weekly Walmart trip, I know that it's the holidays, there is a ham there that was pushing $30. And Tide detergent, everything else was just low key expensive. I get it, tarrifs, rising cost of labor, insurance, yada yada yada. The total was about $225 - I have bought cars for less than than! Not very good cars, I'm just saying. What really grinds my gears though was the blatant lie at the very bottom of the reciept; Low prices You Can Trust. Every Day. A better tagline might be We know, everything is expensive, it's not just us. Maybe put the oreos back? To which I might reply: I got your creme filling right here, Buddy.

Feng Shui my foot, I tripped over the potted plant...

We have been weeding out our books, I've got this little book that advises how to improve the "Feng Shui" around here. Some of it is pretty far out. It says to put a compost pile in the West part of the garden, but goes on to say. it's a good area for "Sunbathing, convalescing, and entertaining" Am I missing a page? I'm Giving my copy away at bookmooch.
