Our Neighbors, Tarzan and Francis the talking Mule


I found this old textbook at a yard sale... It's sort of reassuring that previous generations also knew how to annoy the librarians.

I think all the entries after Nyla Sperlick and before Fam Ranken are the same kid, a kid who lived in a house with a television I presume... He checked out the book for "Dragnet" in 1954, then "Francis", I presume he means the talking mule, as his address is "Stall 3 1/2" (Adding the fraction makes it funnier- this kid is a comedy genius) - Don't know why the date is 1868 on that one- Then back to 600BC for Tarzan at cave 6D (What did I tell you- picture a cave apartment - maybe Tarzan will bring Jane up to show her his etchings!) Then five years later, Tarzan checks out this book again, but now he's moved to "Cave 91".

I sure hope this kid got into advertising or some such lucrative endeavor, rather than getting electroshock therapy.

Walmart really grinds my gears

Teresa just did her weekly Walmart trip, I know that it's the holidays, there is a ham there that was pushing $30. And Tide detergent, everything else was just low key expensive. I get it, tarrifs, rising cost of labor, insurance, yada yada yada. The total was about $225 - I have bought cars for less than than! Not very good cars, I'm just saying. What really grinds my gears though was the blatant lie at the very bottom of the reciept; Low prices You Can Trust. Every Day. A better tagline might be We know, everything is expensive, it's not just us. Maybe put the oreos back? To which I might reply: I got your creme filling right here, Buddy.

Feng Shui my foot, I tripped over the potted plant...

We have been weeding out our books, I've got this little book that advises how to improve the "Feng Shui" around here. Some of it is pretty far out. It says to put a compost pile in the West part of the garden, but goes on to say. it's a good area for "Sunbathing, convalescing, and entertaining" Am I missing a page? I'm Giving my copy away at bookmooch.
